MConnected brings Tees Valley talent together as Innovation Voucher project gets underway
MConnected NXTGEN AIoT has completed its first official week of work on a new project supported by a Tees Valley Investment Zone Innovation Voucher, bringing project stakeholders together with Teesside University to begin the next stage of development.
The first week has been an opportunity to connect the people involved, share perspectives and establish a common direction. It has also highlighted the depth of talent here in the Tees Valley and the value of bringing commercial experience and academic expertise together.
Building innovation through collaboration
Through the Tees Valley Investment Zone Research & Innovation programme, we’re working with Teesside University to develop and validate our ideas, strengthen our commercial readiness and explore opportunities for future applications.
Our wider ambition is to support critical sectors including Defence, Space and Infrastructure. This project is an important step towards building the evidence and understanding needed to turn promising ideas into practical capabilities.
Working closely with academia gives us the opportunity to challenge our thinking, draw on specialist knowledge and keep development focused on real industry needs.
Supporting growth in the North East
We want our innovation to contribute to growth across the North East, particularly within the evolving industrial landscape of the Tees Valley.
For MConnected, that means developing capabilities with the potential to help businesses adapt, improve their operations and pursue new opportunities. It also means building relationships that connect the region’s research strengths with its commercial ambitions.
Andrew Bland, COO of MConnected, said:
“We’re really excited to be developing new innovations here in Teesside and working closely with academia on this project. Bringing the stakeholders together has been a great reminder of just how much talent we have in the Tees Valley.
“There’s a real enthusiasm to turn ideas into something useful. We want to build on that and develop capabilities that support the industries around us, while contributing to the North East’s future growth.”
A positive start
Thank you to everyone involved for their contribution to the first week. The project is at an early stage, but bringing the team together has given us a positive foundation for the work ahead.
We look forward to sharing further updates as the project progresses.
